St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Cambridge On. 1880
Having been modernized in the early 60’s with the addition of two transepts, floating platforms with pot lights and a huge bulk head over the alter, the congregation yearned to go back to some semblance of its history. With the removal of the platforms and bulk head, the 1880 plastered barrel ceiling was revealed along with a surprise mural. Also revealed were the numerous tie rods traversing across the church ceiling. In order to camouflage the tie rods we designed a tracery using extrusion foam which added historical significance and congruity with the earlier modernization.
